What I think you should know about the sewing machine industry.
The last European manufacture sold out in 2011. The reliable brand that Mom and Grandmother used and depended upon for quality, in most cases, is little more than a sticker on a machine that is made in China. There are a couple of other Asian and South American factories, but the point I want to make is that you are easily misled and, dare I say, intentionally? If you look on the machine, they boldly say “Swedish Engineering, German Design, and Swiss Technology” or whatever. This leads the consumer to the conclusion that the machine was made there.
So I guess the question is. . . How do you know what to buy?
The answer isn’t easy. The fact is that the sewing machines I sell come from a different factory than the sewing machines sold at the local marts, on TV, and etc. The machines sold at Downtown Sew & Vac are more durable and harder to get jammed.
